Well I pretty much stopped taking photos. Why? because I’ve joined the competitive gaming community. It eventually became a case of concentrate on playing or concentrate on shooting. Shooting took a back seat while I concentrated on playing Street Fighter IV, going around Europe playing in tournaments. Now I mainly run tournaments and cover events via my youtube channel. I still play and train hard, but at present I am not good enough to beat the top players.

What will become of this blog? Well it seems I have changed but the blog did not change with me. Well, it’s time for the blog to change as well. Rather than be solely about photography, from here on the blog will be about me, and the relevant type of media I am creating at that time. In the last year I have been to a lot of tournaments around Europe, however I did not put video content on here as it was mainly match footage. Recently I have acquired a GoPro HD HERO video camera which I have begun using to video blog, so that content will go up here when relevant instead.

Some of the few random photos I HAVE taken in the past year. There are not many. Tanya uses my digital lenses (I don’t care at all for digital), and I’ve loaned my Leica to Severin after his was stolen. I have my lovely Nikon FM which I will take out again at some point.

Yeah… that is practically all the photos I have taken since February of last year. I don’t care for protests anymore. I’d like to do documentary photography, but of what? The gaming scene since I am in it at the moment is a good start. The problem is, a lot of events are so DARK it is hard to shoot. I’ll sort something out.

Unforunately my scanner won’t scan a bunch of the negatives because they are too dark and it can’t tell where the shots end.  Film negative scanner recommendations, anyone?

I find that photography never does the theatre justice; you really must be there in person to see the brilliance of the performers.

‘Round 2′. Round 2 is their newest production – small plays where the audience gets to choose who plays what role beforehand. A different experience every week.

‘The seagull’. In this production they bring no props; they use items found in the theatre and they ask the crowd to bring props with them. The cast varies every week, and while they follow the story of Chekov’s ‘The Seagull’, all the scenes are ad lib.

16 of us flew from the UK to Jonkoping, Sweden for the Street Fighter IV tournament at Dreamhack Winter 2009. Here is what happened.

The weather in Gothenburg was actually worse than in London. Wetter and colder.

Sweden

For some reason, Dreamhack brought the tournament forward one day from Friday to Thursday, so we had to rush straight from the airport to the event. We were pretty whacked when we got there.

I had Ryan Hart in the first match; one of the three worst draws I could possibly get (the other two being Zak and Gootecks). Here is how our match went. Not great for me by any means.

Ryan Hart took down the tournament for the UK, eliminating me, Afii and Zak in the process. It was inevitable we would eliminate each other when 14 of us made the last 32. Pretty good showing by the UK.

We were front row supporting our guys. We were on Swedish national TV!

United States of Kingdom

After the tournament, we had a 6v6 against the Swedes. Gootecks represented the UK and Xian joined the Swedish, to give us ‘The United States of Kingdom’ vs ‘Swingapore’. It was great fun and there was a lot of trash talking.

We met Jenny on the way to Gothenburg; she was on her way to pick up her son from kindergarten. She speaks five languages but is not available for marriage. Sorry chaps.

The others were still in Jonkoping when we got to Gothenburg, so we waited for them at the internet cafe.
